Training Your Workforce
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC), part of the
Kentucky Community and Technical College System, provides accessible and
affordable education and training leading to a degree, diploma or
certificate. In addition, the College also provides services including
adult basic education, job analysis, assessments, developmental classes,
customized training and distance learning opportunities. The Community
and Economic Development Center at ECTC provides both credit and
non-credit personal and professional classes and business and industry
training. These classes include, but are not limited to, soft skills
training such as Strategic Planning, Leadership Development, Performance
Managment, Customer Service and Team Building. In addition, short-term
customized technical training is offered in areas such as Electricity,
Fluid Power, HV/AC, Industrial maintenance, Welding, MCSE/MCSA and
others. Training is offered at a reduced cost that allows the business
or industry to obtain cost-effective training on state-of-the-art
equipment and without leaving the area. The Center also supports the
development of small businesses by providing would-be entrepreneurs with
the most up-to-date, practical information related to the start-up and
growth phases of the business and tools to put that information to
work.

Department for Adult Education and Literacy - Adult Education centers offer on-site training to employers. Training topics include communication, problem solving, reading, writing, computation, team building, critical thinking, workplace English-as-a-second language, introduction to computers and customized training. The centers also provide an instructor to monitor online learning using the WIN program at www.kyvae.org. This website helps workers improve skills and prepare for the WorkKeys test. Centers also administer TABE and pre-GED testing and GED test referrals. A state income tax credit is available for employers who assist employees in GED preparation.

St. Catharine College - Offers courses in areas such as basic management, accounting, business records management, computer skills and office administration. Financial aid is available and the college can work with employers to establish tuition assistance plans for employee development.
