National Career Readiness Certificate for Employers

The Lincoln Trail Career Centers offer employers an opportunity to easily identify the most skilled employees with the National Career Readiness Certificate. The Certificate is based on ACT's world-renowned WorkKeys® assessments—which remain the only proven system for linking job skills with workplace success. The Certificate can assist employers with:

  • Screening—Employers only interview applicants who have the skills required for the job.
  • Hiring and promotion—A National Career Readiness Certificate can be used as a "plus" factor to help make selection and promotion decisions.
  • Targeting employee training and development—Employers can target their training budgets for job-specific skills rather than basic skills.

The Certificate measures essential workplace skills and is a reliable predictor of workplace success. The WorkKeys® assessments are objective, standardized assessments administered in secure, monitored testing environments to ensure the validity of test results. The Certificate is used across all sectors of the economy and measures the following skills:

  • Problem solving;
  • Critical thinking;
  • Reading and using written, work-related text;
  • Applying information from workplace documents to solve problems;
  • Applying mathematical reasoning to work-related problems;
  • Setting up and performing work-related mathematical calculations;
  • Locating, synthesizing and applying information that is presented graphically; and
  • Comparing, summarizing and analyzing information presented in multiple related graphics.
